It would be better for Yerevan to hold a quick referendum and decide whether to remain in the Eurasian Economic Union or join the European Union, Russian Deputy PM Alexey Overchuk told RIA Novosti<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to him, the decision to fully sever ties with the EAEU depends on Yerevan.<\/p>\n

Overchuk also said that measures taken by Russia regarding imports of goods from Armenia are a normal process, as new products must be inspected.<\/p>\n

“We are not imposing any restrictions on Armenian imports. This is routine, normal work related to the fact that new harvests are arriving, new goods are coming in, and naturally, something may emerge as the process continues,” he said.<\/p>\n

“We must protect consumers in Russia. The new harvest has arrived, and we need to check what is being sent to us—whether there are any pests or diseases that could pose a threat to both consumers and our production.
