US President Donald Trump’s special envoys for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are in Qatar. A spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said<\/a> the US representatives are in the capital, Doha, but will not hold direct talks with Iranian officials.<\/p>\n

According to the spokesperson, Witkoff and Kushner will instead meet with mediators to discuss the progress of the negotiation process.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson also said that Iran’s frozen assets, totaling $6 billion, have not yet been returned to Tehran.<\/p>\n

Earlier, President Donald Trump claimed that Iran had “asked for a meeting” following last week’s strikes.<\/p>\n

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has denied that any meeting with US officials is scheduled. However, it said it will send an expert delegation to Doha to advance discussions on the release of Iran’s frozen assets.<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
