According to the agency, 4,580 people were taken to hospitals for heatstroke between July 6 and 12, while seven others died. Since the ministry began releasing such statistics in early May, the number of people hospitalized has exceeded 13,000, with the death toll reaching 12.<\/p>\n
Japan typically experiences its hottest weather in July and August. On July 14, temperatures reached 38.4°C in Kōchi Prefecture and 37°C in Gunma Prefecture, located near Tokyo.<\/p>\n
