Production in Germany is facing risks due to low water levels on the Rhine.<\/p>\n
The water level has fallen so sharply that ships have been forced to reduce their cargo loads. This has increased transportation costs and complicated the delivery of coal, oil, chemicals, and other raw materials to industrial facilities.<\/p>\n
The disruptions have already affected the operations of several factories, creating additional risks for Germany’s already weakened industrial sector.<\/p>\n
The situation is further complicated by the lack of railway alternatives. One of the main freight routes along the eastern bank of the Rhine is closed for repairs.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, 142 people have drowned in France in less than a month amid a severe heatwave, French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari said. The figures cover the period since June 19. According to the minister, the number of deaths is 20% higher than last year’s figure.<\/p>\n
Ferrari attributed the rise in incidents to extreme heat, which has prompted more people to seek relief at swimming spots to cool off.<\/p>\n
Fifty-five percent of the deaths occurred in areas not designated for swimming or locations without lifeguard supervision.<\/p>\n
