Earlier, The Times reported that a meeting between representatives of Russia and Germany had taken place in Baku in July. According to the newspaper, the talks focused on the Russia-Ukraine war.<\/p>\n
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also said during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Tuesday that German and Russian delegations had held talks on Azerbaijani territory in July to discuss possible ways to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.<\/p>\n
According to Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s territory had been “used to hold such a meeting without his knowledge,” but if the meeting was aimed at contributing to an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine, Azerbaijan “can only welcome it.”<\/p>\n
