At least 14 people have been killed and 24 others injured in a suicide attack on a checkpoint in northwestern Pakistan.<\/p>\n
According to the Xinhua news agency, Pakistani security officials reported the attack on Friday, saying the incident had taken place a day earlier in the Tank district. A vehicle rammed into the checkpoint at high speed before a powerful explosion destroyed the facility.<\/p>\n
Security officials said those killed included nine military personnel, four police officers and an employee of the forestry department.<\/p>\n
At least 24 people were injured, most of them members of the security forces, and were taken to hospitals for treatment. Rescue teams are still combing through the rubble, where three more soldiers are believed to be trapped.<\/p>\n
