During talks with US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured him that Israel would not launch an attack on Iran on its own initiative without a request from Washington, the Associated Press<\/a> writes, citing Israeli sources.<\/p>\n

According to the news agency, Netanyahu also stated during the meeting that Israel reserves the right to respond if Iran attacks Israel.<\/p>\n

The Israeli prime minister also told the US president that Israel would continue sharing new intelligence information on Iran with Washington. Netanyahu said he understands that the United States must take into account the positions of its Arab allies in the Middle East regarding the conflict with Iran.<\/p>\n

He assured Trump that Israel fully trusts Washington on the Iran issue and would support any decision made by the US president.<\/p>\n

Despite signs of tension between the two leaders ahead of the meeting, Netanyahu said in an Instagram post that Trump’s entire senior team took part in the talks.<\/p>\n

“When I say excellent, I don’t mean superficial. The conversation took place in an atmosphere of full partnership and mutual support, with a shared understanding of the goal of preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, as well as other objectives,” Netanyahu wrote.<\/p>\n

Netanyahu later joined US Vice President JD Vance and Trump at the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham, where the Israeli leader was seen speaking with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who had met with Trump earlier that day.<\/p>\n
