Iran could harm US economic interests in the Middle East if pressure from sanctions intensifies, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei has warned.<\/p>\n
“If the United States increases economic pressure on Iran, we will respond with countermeasures that will affect American interests in the region,” he said in an interview with Lebanon’s Al-Manar TV channel. Rezaei did not elaborate on what kind of countermeasures he was referring to.<\/p>\n
According to him, the United States’ shift toward economic pressure on Tehran indicates that a military approach to resolving the conflict has yielded limited results.<\/p>\n
