Shortly before October 7, 2023, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received a warning from the UAE authorities about the likelihood of a large-scale attack by the radical Palestinian movement HAMAS.<\/p>\n

Its publication is based on material from a new book, “Hostages: 843 Days in Solitude,” written by journalists Shlomi Eldar and Ruth Yuval based on conversations with dozens of sources in Israel and around the world, including high-ranking officials. According to their data, about 10 days before the October 7 attack, UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan called Netanyahu and warned him that HAMAS leader in Gaza Yahya Sinwar was hatching plans for a large-scale attack on Israel.<\/p>\n
According to the sources, the conversation lasted about 45 minutes. The UAE President expressed serious concerns regarding Sinwar’s intentions and suggested that the attack he was planning could lead to massive bloodshed, regional destabilization, and the weakening of the Abraham Accords between Israel and Arab countries. To the surprise of the Emirati leader, as Haaretz writes, Netanyahu reacted very calmly to this warning and expressed his conviction that Israel was in complete control of the situation in Gaza. At the time, Netanyahu believed that a potential threat could come from the West Bank, but he assured his interlocutor that the Israeli side was prepared for any scenario.<\/p>\n
On the morning of October 7, 2023, armed members of HAMAS and other Palestinian factions invaded Israeli territory from Gaza.
