NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has urged alliance member states to increase their military support for Kyiv, РИА Новости reports.<\/p>\n
“Our response is to increase support for Ukraine so that it has everything it needs,” Rutte stated on Monday in Brussels during a joint press conference with Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša.<\/p>\n
The NATO Secretary General’s statement came against the backdrop of renewed mediation efforts by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. In early September, U.S. Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner visited Moscow, where they held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, before traveling to Kyiv to meet with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.<\/p>\n
Following the negotiations in Kyiv, Witkoff stated that the American side expects to find a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, while Kushner expressed hope for further progress.<\/p>\n
Following this, Trump reported on having a phone conversation with Putin.<\/p>\n
