The United States sharply increased military funding for Armenia in the 2024 fiscal year, bringing total allocations since 2002 to more than $60 million, according to U.S. government data reviewed by RIA Novosti.<\/p>\n
Last week, Andrew Loomis, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Policy, stated that Washington intends to leverage the full potential of its programs to support the reform of Armenia’s armed forces. U.S. military assistance to Armenia under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program began back in 2002. By the 2024 fiscal year, the cumulative volume of U.S. military funding for Armenia exceeded $60 million.<\/p>\n
According to Pentagon statistics reviewed by RIA Novosti, funding increased significantly in the 2024 fiscal year, during which the U.S. directed more than $8.1 million to Armenia. In 2023, it was only about $16,000, and in 2022, approximately $1.3 million. Data for 2025 has not been published to date. At the same time, Armenia received about $18 million from calendar years 2023 through 2024. In January 2025, the State Department notified that this amount was channeled through FMF for a number of projects, including the development of a National Training Center for military personnel. A month prior to this notification, the Pentagon chief reported that funds for these purposes had been allocated over the preceding two years.
