The European Parliament has adopted a resolution on Azerbaijan. The organization once again expressed deep concern over the detention of political prisoners and prisoners of war in Azerbaijan, including former high-ranking officials of Artsakh.<\/p>\n
The European Parliament called for their immediate and unconditional release and for the respect of their fundamental rights.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the resolution, pro-government Azerbaijani media wrote that it was adopted at a time when the peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan is advancing, in a context where political responsibility and support for constructive dialogue are of particular importance.<\/p>\n
“At a time when Azerbaijan and Armenia are making efforts to resolve their long-standing conflict, it is alarming that destructive elements representing certain political forces in the European Parliament are once again attempting to create political and military tension. Real support for the process of establishing regional stability and lasting peace requires respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, support for direct dialogue, and refraining from actions that deepen mutual distrust,” Azerbaijani media wrote.<\/p>\n
