They (the authorities) must close the borders, fast!&rdquo; the US president wrote on the social media platform <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/117467289367307836\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Truth Social<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>His remarks came amid widespread looting and riots across France over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>On October 17, nationwide protests took place in France, led mainly by left-wing trade unions. The demonstrations also involved secondary school and university student organizations, as well as representatives of the &ldquo;Yellow Vests&rdquo; movement. One of the main demands was action to address the sharp rise in the cost of living.
