An Azerbaijani border guard opened fire on an individual who illegally crossed from Iran into Azerbaijan and offered armed resistance, the Azerbaijani State Border Service reported.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, a border patrol operating within the area of responsibility of the Goytepe Border Detachment spotted individuals attempting to cross the state border from the Islamic Republic of Iran into Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n
The border guards ordered them to stop and fired warning shots into the air. However, one of the individuals disobeyed the orders, offered armed resistance, and opened fire.<\/p>\n
In an attempt to detain the individual, who had ignored the border guards’ commands, the officers used firearms, resulting in the individual being neutralized.<\/p>\n
The Iranian side was notified of the incident through the respective border representative offices.<\/p>\n
