Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has announced his intention to sign a peace treaty with Russia after the territorial issue over the Kuril Islands has been settled.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The relations between Japan and Russia have become difficult, but we continue to strive to resolve the territorial issue and sign a peace treaty,” Kishida said in his speech in the House of Representatives meeting. <\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, Kishida said Japan will “continue to resolutely intensify the sanctions pressure” on Russia over the situation in Ukraine.
