Construction works in Shushi have damaged the archaeological
\nremains of Meghretsots Holy Mother of God Church. A satellite photo, taken on
\nNov. 3, shows that Azerbaijan dumped  —
\nlikely using heavy machinery — all the construction waste from the surrounding
\nareas on the church’s foundation walls<\/a>, uncovered by excavations in 2017,
\nmonumentwatch.org<\/a> writes.

As early as 2021, satellite photos showed that the church
\nwas becoming neglected, and its walls were getting covered with grass.
\nMeghretsots Holy Mother of God Church was built in 1838 with the financial
\nsupport of Mahtesi Hakhumyants.
