The dictator was re-elected president. Ilham Aliyev, who has been in the driving seat of Azerbaijan for more than 20 years, will hold power for another seven years.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was Heydar Aliyev who ushered in the age of the Aliyevs’ power in 1993. In 2003, the power passed from father to son. Although Ilham Aliyev became a president through elections, they were far from fair or democratic.<\/span><\/p>\n
