The U.S., that is a non-regional country, foils the
\ntransport security efforts of regional countries with its actions and
\nstatements. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated this, in
\nresponse to the statement made by Assistant Secretary of State for European and
\nEurasian Affairs James O’Brien.

“The U.S. is well aware that Armenia’s failure to meet its
\nobligations arising from Clause 9 of the 2020 tripartite statement, made
\nAzerbaijan take a decision on building alternative roads,” the Azerbaijani
\nForeign Ministry noted.

As mentioned, the conclusion of an agreement on establishing
\ntransport links with the neighboring states, as well as the agreement with Iran
\non the route to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is the sovereign right of
\nAzerbaijan.

“With this in mind, Azerbaijan once again notes that the
\n“3+2” format (Azerbaijan-Armenia-Turkey-Russia-Iran) is a priority for the
\nsecurity of the region. Any statement, undermining efforts made in this regard,
\nis inappropriate,” reads the statement issued by the ministry.
