The U.S. has announced that it has made air strikes in the
\nsoutheastern regions of Syria, on the Iranian forces stationed near the border
\nwith Iraq.

As the BBC reports, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin
\nsaid the strikes were made on the facilities used by the Islamic Revolutionary
\nGuard Corps and Iran-affiliated armed groups positioned along the Euphrates
\nvalley.

Austin stated that thereby they tried to ensure the safety
\nof the U.S. servicemen, and the attacks were carried out in retaliation for the
