The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has
\ncalled for “the protection of civilians in Gaza trapped in fighting, whether
\nthey are trying to evacuate or staying where they are”.

As noted in the statement issued by the ICRC, hostilities
\nbetween Israel and Hamas take place in heavily populated areas and near
\nhospitals.

“An unbearable human tragedy is unfolding in front of our
\neyes,” the ICRC noted.
<\/p><\/p>\n
The southern area of the Gaza Strip is not ready for the
\ninflux of refugees, arriving there to escape fighting.
<\/p><\/p>\n\n
The ICRC notes that the humanitarian aid coming in is mostly
\ninsufficient, while the refugees lack essentials, namely shelter, food, water
\nand hygiene products.
