Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has left for Uzbekistan
\nto attend the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization. As the Turkish
\nmedia reports, the development of regional transport infrastructure is going to
\nbe on the agenda for the summit. The issue of the “Zangezur corridor” will also
\nbe discussed. <\/p>\n
\nABC Media spoke with Turkologist Tiran Lokmagyozyan to find out why Erdoğan
\ndiscusses the Syunik issue with Uzbek officials.

As the Turkologist says, this is nothing but the fulfillment
\nof Turkey’s distant dream.<\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
“This is their plan, and it is of paramount importance to
\nthem. This is their 100-year-long dream. For Turan to become a reality, they
\nneed to take a plot of land from Armenia. Turkey stated this 100 years ago and
\nis pursuing this very policy today as well. They are pressing ahead with this
\nplan everywhere, be that Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan or another country,” the expert
\nnoted.

\n<\/p>
Lokmagyozyan says that this move is directed at us, and not
\nat the Uzbeks or the Arabs.<\/p>\n
<\/p><\/p>\n
“This is a message to Armenia, saying that they have not
\nforgotten anything and have not postponed anything, although the recent signals
\ncoming from both Azerbaijan and Turkey seem to be slowing down,” the
\nTurkologist noted.
<\/p><\/p>\n
However, the expert added that the road running through Iran
\nis a bait. <\/p>\n
\n“No, they will never backtrack on their goal, as they want a road. They already
\nhave a road. Turkey has roads both through Iran and Georgia. However, the road
\nis not their prime aim. First, their aim is to have a road that will belong to
\nthem and will not be controlled by Armenians, Russians, or Iranians. Second,
\ntheir aim is to cut Armenia off its southern lands and to turn it into a
\nTurkish vilayet,” Lokmagyozyan concluded.
