It was obvious that the Azerbaijani court would not acquit
\nor release 68-year-old Vagif Khachatryan. Former Human Rights Defender of
\nArmenia Arman Tatoyan made a Facebook post on this.

“It was clear, wasn’t it, that the so-called judicial
\nprocess was going to be a show with false evidence and an embodiment of
\ninjustice? The Azerbaijani authorities made Vagif Khachatryan another victim of
\ntheir political games, with the aim of legitimizing their crimes and humiliating
\nthe Armenian people. Depriving a person of his liberty for 15 years, and
\nkeeping him in Baku prison under strict conditions, does not provide guarantees
\nthat an elderly citizen of Artsakh with health problems will be able to
\nwithstand the atmosphere of Azerbaijani hostility,” Tatoyan wrote.

Tatoyas raised a question as to how many more such innocent
\ncitizens are targeted by Azerbaijan and how long this impunity will
\nprevail?

“One thing is clear: as long as there are armed Azerbaijani
\nservicemen on the roads near the villages and towns of Armenia, our people will
\ncontinue to be in danger. And the criminal acts of the Azerbaijani side will
\ncontinue as long as the fascist authorities of that country act in the absence
\nof responsibility,” Tatoyan wrote.
