Western emissaries are frequent guests in Armenia, but the “mountains of gold” and the EU membership they promise to Yerevan in return for its undivided loyalty are just bait in a mousetrap, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev wrote in an article in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to him, no one will open the “doors of the elite club” for the Armenian people. He noted that the centuries-old friendship of the Russian and Armenian peoples, strengthened by alliance relations within the framework of the CSTO and the EAEU, has long been a “thorn in the side” of Washington and its allies.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Significant forces have been deployed to pull the South Caucasus republic into the Euro-Atlantic camp. Not for nothing is one of the largest U.S. embassies in the world located in its capital,” Medvedev said.
