Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien will visit Azerbaijan. He will meet with high-ranking Azerbaijani officials, including Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to highlight progress in U.S.-Azerbaijan bilateral relations and U.S. support for a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. O’Brien will also meet with members of civil society to reiterate the urgency of Azerbaijan’s adherence to international human rights obligations.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, commenting on O’Brien’s planned visit to Azerbaijan, Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State Matthew Miller said at a press briefing that the U.S. continues to engage in diplomacy to resolve a number of the outstanding issues in the region.<\/p>\n
