The Labour Party has won a landslide victory in the U.K. general election, sweeping hundreds of seats across the country and ending 14 years of Conservative rule, the BBC writes.<\/span><\/p>\n

The last time the centre-left party achieved such success was under Tony Blair in the 1997 election. It is noteworthy that the extreme right also appeared in parliament with 13 seats.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to exit polls, the Labour Party will have 410 seats in Parliament.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rishi Sunak, the outgoing PM, acknowledged Labour had won and congratulated their leader, Sir Keir Starmer.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The transfer of power will take place peacefully and orderly, accompanied by goodwill from all parties involved. This should give all of us confidence in the stability and future of our country. The British gave a sobering verdict today; there is a lot to learn… and I take on responsibility for the failure,” Sunak said.<\/span><\/p>\n
