These pits are of great interest in terms of potential future habitation.<\/p>\n<p>The research was carried out by a group of scientists from the U.S. and Italy. The analysis of data collected by NASA&rsquo;s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) shows that the Mare Tranquillitatis, the deepest known skylight on the Moon, leads to a cave about 45 meters wide and about 77 meters long.
