The Council of the European Union extended the sanctions against Iran until July 27, 2025. The restrictive measures are imposed because of the country’s support for Russia with regard to the conflict with Ukraine, as well as the supply of weapons to non-state armed groups in the Middle East and the Red Sea region.<\/p>\n
Now the sanctions apply to 12 individuals and nine legal entities. Among them are the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy and Iranian companies specializing in the production of drones.<\/p>\n
The assets of the persons affected by restrictions are frozen, and any provision of their funds or economic resources is prohibited. Moreover, they are refused entry into EU territory.<\/p>\n
The EU last announced the expansion of sanctions against Iran in late May. Then, Mohammad-Reza Gharaei Ashtiani, the country’s defense minister, came under restrictions.
