Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Sri Lanka submitted a request for the status of an observer country in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, Mehrdad Kia, Iran’s national coordinator of the SCO Secretariat, told Izvestiya.<\/p>\n
“Several countries have applied to join, including Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Armenia, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan and others. These countries want to change their status from a dialogue partner to an observer. We are ready to consider this issue and, in agreement with the relevant applicants and member countries of the organization, come to a certain conclusion,” he said.<\/p>\n
