Mohammad Javad Zarif, the vice president of Iran for Strategic Affairs, who served as the country’s foreign minister in 2013–2021 and advocated negotiations with the U.S., resigned after only 10 days in office. Zarif wrote about this on X.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I am not satisfied with the results of my work… Along with other issues, this forced me to continue my path at the university,” he wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zarif meant the Advisory Council, which he headed immediately after Masoud Pezeshkian’s victory in the country’s presidential election on July 5.
