Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi visited Turkey for the first time during his time in office.<\/span><\/p>\n

Relations between Turkey and Egypt worsened in 2013, when the Egyptian Armed Forces, led by then-Chief of General Staff el-Sisi, overthrew Islamist President Mohamed Morsi, who was considered a close political ally of Ankara.<\/span><\/p>\n
