The Middle East is on the brink of a major regional war, and Russia is working with all parties to avert it. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said<\/a> at the Russia-GCC meeting for Strategic Dialogue.<\/p>\n

“The inability of the international community to stop hostilities in the Gaza Strip and the mass death of its residents has led to a sharp deterioration of the military-political situation in the entire region, from the border of Lebanon and Israel to the Red Sea. At the same time, the confrontation between Israel and Lebanon has reached a new dangerous level. The Middle East is again on the brink of a major regional war. It is our common responsibility to prevent this,” Lavrov said.<\/p>\n

According to him, the establishment of stability in the Middle East is impossible without the settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “We are working with all parties to address the situation,” Lavrov said.<\/p>\n
