The United States remains steadfast in our support of the Armenian people’s democratic aspirations, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a press statement on Armenia’s Independence Day.<\/p>\n
“We honor Armenia’s commitment to accountable governance and to the rule of law at a time of grave challenges. We will continue to champion a durable and dignified peace for the South Caucasus region,” Blinken noted.<\/p>\n
The U.S. secretary of state stated that as the first country to recognize Armenia’s independence, the U.S. is proud to continue to stand by Armenia as it becomes a thriving member in the community of democracies.<\/p>\n
Trade between the U.S. and Armenia has roughly doubled over the past ten years, Blinken said, adding that they are working to diversify Armenia’s energy supplies and to ensure the energy security of its people and the region.
