Azerbaijan and Armenia have received an important opportunity to ensure long-term peace and stability in the South Caucasus, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a meeting with representatives of a number of U.S. think tanks at the Turkish House in New York.<\/p>\n
According to him, Turkey’s principle stance is to contribute to the elimination of differences, peace and strengthening of neighborly relations.<\/p>\n
“We consider respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, as well as the norms of international law, unshakable.<\/p>\n
The modern world needs these principles more than ever,” he noted.<\/p>\n
The president of Turkey noted that in order to achieve these goals, it is necessary to strengthen the multipolar world order. “The bipolar world that emerged after the Second World War, as well as the unipolar world, have remained in history,” Erdogan said, calling for a reform in the structure of the U.N. Security Council.<\/p>\n
“The interests of the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council cannot determine the course of global processes. The world has more than five powers, and I will announce it again from the chair of the U.N.
