On Sept. 19, Azerbaijan launched an offensive against
\nArtsakh, then cynically unblocked the Lachin corridor for the first time after
\na nine-month blockade, so that the Armenians of Artsakh would leave. RA

“Now, there are no Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh; if this is
\nnot considered ethnic cleansing, then I have no idea what ethnic cleansing
\nmeans. Azerbaijan would announce that it is ready for the return of Armenians.
\nIn fact, they said the same thing after the 44-day war, but have not allowed a
\nsingle Armenian to return to the occupied territories. Azerbaijan will promise
\nto respect the rights and security of the Armenian population. However, they
\nmade similar promises earlier and had no scruples about breaching international
\nconventions,” he said.

According to Kirakosyan, Azerbaijan will be held liable by
\nthe International Court of Justice.

“Baku’s cynicism knows no bounds. Many people have been
\nabducted and illegally put in prison in Azerbaijan. But we still have time to
\nrectify the situation. Only interim measures of the court can put the brakes on
\nthe ethnic cleansing — something that happened in Nakhijevan — and
\nprotect the former leaders of Artsakh from Baku’s unlawful actions,” he said.
