Russia is preparing a substantial set of aid packages for
\nArmenia both at the level of state and NGOs. During the meeting, the sides
\nmainly focused on the issues concerning the Syunik Province. Russian Ambassador
\nto Armenia Sergey Kopirkin said this to Sputnik Armenia.

“What is going on in Armenia and in the Syunik Province in
\nparticular is very important to Russia. Armenia and the Armenian people,
\nincluding the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh are very important to us. They are
\nnot foreigners. We have very close ties with each other. We perceive the pain
\nof the Armenian people as our own. Whatever others say, Russia is not
\nindifferent to all of that and has shown and will show with its actions that
\nthis country and its people are very important to it. We have developed
\nrelations with this nation for thousands of years and intend to do so in the
\nfuture,” the diplomat noted.

Kopirkin said that the Russian leadership pays close
\nattention to the issues in the Syunik Province and is ready to help settle
\nthem, primarily focusing on humanitarian issues.

“The presence of the Russian military and border guards
\nplays an irreplaceable role, especially now when the situation is rather tense,
\nwhen the issue of the “Zangezur corridor” is being much discussed and people
\ntry to understand what will come after Karabakh. Thus, any action that gives
\npeople hope is of great importance.
