Tigran Avinyan from the Civil Contract Party has been
\nelected mayor in the first session of the newly elected Yerevan Council of
\nElders. Avinyan was the only candidate for the post.<\/p>\n
The Civil Contract Party, the Hanrapetutyun (“Republic”)
\nParty and the Public Voice Party attended the session. Thus, 37 members were
\npresent.<\/p>\n
Thirty-two members voted for Avinyan, and five
\nagainst. <\/p>\n\n
The Mother Armenia Alliance headed by Andranik Tevanyan and
\nthe National Progress Party of Armenia headed by Hayk Marutyan boycotted the
\nsession.
