Georgia’s Foreign Ministry: Relations with the EU must be based on mutual respect

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili has met with EU Ambassador in Georgia Pavel Gerchinsky. Bochorishvili noted that European integration is important for the Georgian authorities, but relations with the EU must be based on mutual respect.

According to her, Georgia is committed to fulfilling its obligations to the European Union and is ready to work toward preparing the country for EU membership. The foreign minister noted that the EU should have an objective assessment of the processes occurring in the country.

Georgia is concerned that the EU’s political maneuvering related to elections continues and that European Parliament resolutions contribute to the creation of an artificial crisis in the country.
