Turkey may resume railway service with Aleppo
Turkey may resume railway communication that was interrupted 12 years ago between the Turkish city of Mersin and the Syrian city of Aleppo, Yeni Şafak reports.
“The Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has completed the inspection of the 175-kilometer section of the railway from Mersin to the Syrian border. If an agreement is reached with the new Syrian authorities, it is planned to quickly renovate the Syrian section of the railway to prepare it for passenger and cargo transport,” reads the publication.
This concerns a 365-kilometer railway that has 38 stations. Communication along this railway existed from 2010 to 2012.
