Iran’s supreme leader calls on Syrians to resist rebel government
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has urged Syrians to resist the rebel government formed after the ousting of former President Bashar al-Assad, stating that the uprising has been organized by the West.
In a speech on Dec. 22, Khamenei said that Syrians, especially the youth of the country, “must decisively oppose those who have come up with and implemented the insecurity.”
To remind, on the night of Dec. 8, Turkish-backed rebel militants entered Damascus and announced the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, which had been in power for 24 years. Assad has since left Syria and is currently in Moscow.
