Cryptocurrency mining banned in Russia’s several regions

Starting Jan. 1, ten regions in Russia have implemented a complete ban on cryptocurrency mining, RIA Novosti writes.

The decision was made by the Russian government on Dec. 23 and applies to several areas, including the republics of the North Caucasus, namely Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia, and Chechnya. Additionally, the ban extends to Russia’s newly incorporated regions, including the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
