Zakharova accuses US of forcing prisoners into labor

In a Telegram post, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused U.S. authorities of using prisoners to combat wildfires in California.

“How tiresome this ignorant hypocrisy has become. Hundreds of prisoners have been recruited in Southern California to fight forest fires, and local authorities report that they make up about one-third of the firefighting forces,” Zakharova stated.

She noted that in recent years, U.S. officials have repeatedly criticized China for employing forced labor.
