Peskov: France is seeking continuation of war

Statements by Emmanuel Macron create the impression that France is looking for a continuation of the war, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said while commenting on the French president’s remarks about nuclear weapons.

In a message to the nation, Macron stated that European countries would start discussions with allies about the possibility of coming under French nuclear protection, based on the call from Friedrich Merz, candidate for Chancellor of Germany. He also talked about the increasing threats to Europe and France, including allegedly from Russia.

Peskov described the French president’s nuclear rhetoric as “extremely dangerous and leading to confrontation.”
