Cyclone in Australia leaves over 350,000 homes without power
More than 350,000 homes in Australia remain without power due to Cyclone Alfred, ABC News reports.
“According to the head of the state, around 350,000 homes and businesses in Queensland are without electricity due to Cyclone Alfred,” the news services reports.
As News.com.au reports, 16,000 homes in the northern part of New South Wales—which has also been affected by the cyclone—continue to be without power.
Earlier, Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology reported that the tropical Cyclone Alfred reached the country’s eastern coast on Friday morning. By Saturday morning, the cyclone had weakened. However, the severe weather continues to pose a threat to the population, with heavy rain and flooding forecasted.
