Davit Ishkhanyan’s letter to be handed over to Iranian Parliament speaker
Through the mediation of two Armenian MPs of the Iranian
Parliament Ara Shahverdian and Robert Beglarian, the letter from Artsakh NA
President Davit Ishkhanyan will be handed over to the speaker of the Iranian
Parliament, the Armenian daily newspaper Alik based in Tehran, reports.
According to Shahverdian, one copy of the letter has been
handed over to Representative of the Armenian Community of Southern Iran in the
Iranian Parliament Robert Beglarian. Thus, they are going to hand it over to
Speaker of the Parliament of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. Shahverdian also
noted that today, every action can play a role in the protection of the rights
of the ethnic population of Artsakh.
“Despite the denouncing calls issued by various people and
organizations, Baku does not lift the blockade of Artsakh, thereby depriving
Artsakh of the lifeline connecting it with Armenia. Azerbaijan does not heed
the demands of the U.N. Security Council, the European Parliament, the ECHR,
the International Court of Justice and those of other international
organizations and pursues a policy of ethnic cleansing, provocation and threat
of force against the Armenians of Artsakh,” Shahverdian said.
He noted that the 120,000 citizens of Artsakh are denied the
opportunity of free movement and live in adverse conditions; their fundamental
rights are being violated, while Azerbaijan fails to meet the calls of the
international community.
“We are going to be mediators with regard to the letter,
which means that we will hand it over directly to the speaker of the Iranian
Parliament and will make sure the letter, sent from Artsakh NA President Davit
Ishkhanyan, receives an appropriate response,” Shahverdian said.
