Russian presidential elections to be also held in regions that have come under Russian control

The Central Election Commission of Russia has decided to
hold presidential elections in the regions that have come under Russian control
in the military operation against Ukraine, despite the martial law, RIA Novosti
reports.

The CEC came to this decision after consulting the heads of
the Federal Security Service, the Ministry of Defense, those of the Luhansk and
Donetsk Peoples’ Republics, as well as the heads of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson
Oblasts, which are partially under Russian control.

“We should inform the president of Russia and the Federation
Council about this decision,” CEC Chairman Nikolai Bulaev said.
