Algeria expels 12 French diplomats

Algerian authorities have decided to expel 12 French diplomats, Le Figaro reports, citing French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.

“The Algerian authorities have asked our 12 employees to leave the country within 48 hours,” the minister said.

Barrot added that Algeria is expelling the diplomats in response to the arrest of three Algerian citizens in France, who are suspected of legal violations on French soil.

Barrot noted that Algeria’s action will not go unanswered.
