Iran welcomes the joint statement of Azerbaijan and Armenia
regarding the release of detainees. Spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of
Foreign Affairs Nasser Kanaani said this at a press briefing today.
“Iran is ready to contribute to a lasting peace in the South
Caucasus region. This requires measures intended to strengthen peace and an
atmosphere of trust between the regional countries,” he said.
According to Kanaani, Iran hopes these measures will lead to
peace and stability between the two sides.
“The Republic of Iran is ready to help both countries for
the sake of peace and security,” he added.
