New ‘opportunity’ for future soldiers: Government approves the draft law

The discussion on the draft law regarding military service lasted only 17 minutes at today’s Cabinet meeting.

The author of the draft law, which is currently under review in the government, is Member of Parliament Hayk Sargsyan from the Civil Contract party. According to the approved draft, one can complete mandatory military service in just one month by paying 24 million drams, or serve for four months for 18 million drams. The state fee for renouncing Armenian citizenship before reaching the age of 16 is set at 15 million drams.
