Armenian team awarded medals in 16th IOAA
From Aug. 10 to Aug 20, the 16th International Olympiad on
Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) was held in the city of Chorzów in Silesia
region of Poland. Two hundred and forty-one students from 50 countries took
part in the Olympiad.
The RA MoESCS reports that 12th-graders Areg Barseghyan,
Vyacheslav Petrosyan, Artsavazd Harutyunyan and Maria Arakelyan from Physics
and Mathematics Specialized School after A. Shahinyan represented Armenia in
the Olympiad. Thus, Vyacheslav Petrosyan got a silver medal, Artavazd
Harutyunyan won a bronze, Areg Barseghyan and Maria Arakelyan received
honorable mentions.
The Olympiad consisted of four parts, namely theoretical,
observation, data analysis and planetarium.
The leader of the team was teacher at PhysMath School
Vardges Mambreyan.
