Participant of the action trying to go to Artsakh: We showed that Aliyev’s statements that the road is open, are false
Yesterday, a group of people from Artsakh, accompanied by
journalists, left Yerevan for Kornidzor, trying to reach the Hakari bridge.
Their aim was to cross the bridge and arrive in Artsakh. Before their
departure, they informed the RA NSS about their plan of action.
“We were well received at the Armenian roadblock. We
told them that we had permission from the NSS. In response, the security
personnel told us that under the new regulations, we had to communicate our request
to the Russian command. The Russian peacekeepers were to come to the neutral
zone and lead us to the checkpoint,” action participant Armine Martirosyan
told ABC Media.
According to her, they wanted to show the world that
Aliyev’s statements that the road is open and there are no obstacles to
arriving in Artsakh, are false.
“We were kept waiting for four hours at the Armenian
roadblock. Then, we tried to contact the Russian peacekeepers on the number
that we were given. However, they neither answered, nor approached us. We tried
to contact them by other means, but were told that it could not be organized,”
Armine Martirosyan said.
Unable to continue their journey, the action participants
returned to Goris. Afterward, they came back to Yerevan with the rest of the
Artsakh residents, waiting for them in Goris.
“We need to continue to work towards the unblocking of
the corridor. There is no point in sitting and waiting for Aliyev’s statement.
At first glance, these actions may seem absurd, but we must take new actions
every single day. The road must be unblocked. Besides losing our territories,
we are also losing our compatriots,” the participant said.
Armine Martirosyan is convinced that they reached their
goal, i.e., they showed the international community that Aliyev is lying.
“We have another goal as well. We want this issue to be
widely discussed, as sometimes it seems that the issue of the blockade of
Artsakh is already of no interest,” Armine Martirosyan said.
